As a teacher I have used EyeSpeak with my class on several occasions. It has enabled me to monitor their rapid improvement in pronunciation. The students were able to work both independently or through a series of tasks set by myself. This program has benefited students from all nationalities in my class. My class of elementary students benefited greatly from the EyeSpeak Pronunciation Computer Program. The visual explanation of their speaking attempts through diagrams meant they were able to retain and internalize information more effectively than just copying a teacher's or audiotape's exercises. They enjoyed the fun aspect of the program and the opportunities to self-correct any mistakes. Eyespeak has provided me with an easy to use and highly effective tool for improving my English pronunciation. Previously I had a good understanding of English however I struggled being understood when speaking English to my friends in business, and personally. In my capacity as Director of Studies at Excel English Language College, I have had the opportunity to use the EyeSpeak Software package on the computers in our computer laboratory. This program has proved very popular with the students as it provides instant feedback in several forms and students can see appreciable progress being made. They also enjoyed the fact that the program seems to recognize them as individuals and to keep a record of their development.
Teachers have also found it useful, both as a teaching tool and as a way of helping students with their individual pronunciation difficulties without using up valuable classroom time. An added bonus is the feature which enables teachers to set individual lessons for the students and to check on how the students are progressing and any improvement that has been made.
I personally have found this program to be better in all aspects of interactive pronunciation practice than others I have seen in my 12 years of EFL experience, teaching in the UK, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Australasia.
